Hypertrak Mix - Kaytranada
Hypertrak released a mix created by Kaytranada. The mix, Instrumental Hip Hop Is Dead is 48 minutes long and takes you on a journey. Sweet sounds with a chill vibe. It's probably my favorite mix he's created so far. The interview for this mix is here.
And the mix itself is below. Happy listening.

Currently Playing...
Trippy Turtle is on my mind at the moment. In particular the Diplo & Friends mix which he created a while ago. I'm really obsessed with mixes at the moment, in particular those which are an hour or so long. I tried to do a little digging on the internet to see if I would be able to figure out exactly who Trippy is but, no luck. I am however 90% sure it's none other than Cashmere Cat. But we can't know for sure.
Here's the Diplo & Friends mix which is currently playing at my house.

Original vs. Remix - Stand Still
A lot of the times the original is better than the remix right? Take for example Thinkin Bout You by Frank Ocean. I didn't think I would ever hear a remix which was better than the original, but then Ryan Hemsworth came along and produced this, making me question myself. Was the remix really better than the original? It was a tough question, one that I still haven't been able to answer, because both versions are amazing in their own ways.
Today I wanted to do a little battle; the original song versus the remix. I have chosen Australian duo Flight Facilities original song Stand Still as well as the Wave Racer remix as its competitor.
Listen to both here and decide for yourself.

Tropico - Lana Del Rey
Earlier this month Lana Del Rey released Tropico, a short film. It was written by her and directed by Anthony Mandler who had also directed Ride and National Anthem. The film starts off with Del Rey as Eve in the Garden of Eden, with Adam played by model Shaun Ross. There, in Eden, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, John Wayne and Jesus co-exist. Eve picks an apple from the Tree of Knowledge, while her song Body Electric plays. Next Gods and Monsters play as the couple get banished from the Garden of Eden to the Garden of Evil (Los Angeles) in which Lana Del Rey is a stripper and Shaun Ross is a convenience store employee. They are both trapped in poverty, each doing what they can to survive. The strippers and the thugs (including Ross) stage a robbery of businessmen. In the final segment, after the robbery, Del Rey and Ross are fleeing across the country. Bel Air starts playing as they get out of the car and head towards a field. They are free, alone, with nothing surrounding them but each other.
The film is just under 30 minutes long, but covers a lot of topics; loss of innocence, good versus evil, beauty for money and redemption. It's true that the film was created in an artistic way, therefore it can be hard to fully understand the meaning behind everything, but I think it was very well written and shot, and it's definitely worth a watch. I found this article in which Anthony Mandler talks more about Tropico.
Watch Tropico below.

Mixes
Today I had a lot of work to do so I've been listening to a few mixes by different artists, in particular performances from the Boiler Room, of which I will include Kaytranada's set. To me, ready made mixes are a lot easier than making a playlist from scratch.
So here's some of the stuff I've been playing today:
The last two sounds are available to download.
